Wolf Alice – Visions Of A Life

A better title than “ Visions Of A Life ” would have been Wolf Alice for their second album, which was released in late September, can not think. Just as life always has its ups and downs, its good and its bad side, its moments of bliss and mischief, so is “Visions Of A Life” an absolute roller coaster of emotions and genres.

Wolf Alice, These are Ellie Rowsell (vocals, guitar), Joff Oddie (guitar, vocals), Theo Ellis (bass) and Joel Amey (drums, vocals) from England, whose debut album “My Love Is Cool” 2015 was released. Back then, they had been able to convince with a mixture of grunge / rock and indie.

“Visions Of A Life” starts with the current single “Heavenward”, a light Shoegaze opener, which in no way follows the subsequent track ” Yuk Foo “, which sounds slightly aggressive and very naughty (excerpt:” No, I do not give a shit / You bore me “). Hard to believe that the third track “Beautifully Unconventional” is still on the same album, considering that the poppy number in the style of the 60s can even be heard on the radio (for example on 1Live).

But that’s exactly what makes Wolf Alice so special – in twelve songs you have the feeling that you have once tasted all the emotions of life with the band. Something retro (“Do not Delete The Kisses”), then again sweet and dreamy (“Planet Hunter”). Simply unique.

But that’s not all: even outside of their music, singer Ellie and bassist Theo, who co-founded the “Bands 4 Refugees” movement last year together with the organization “Help Refugees”, surprised artists such as Charli XCX, Pixie Geldof and members of Slaves, Years & Years, Circa Waves, Swim Deep and others, who together collected money during the refugee crisis and received attention for the refugee issue.

Live Unfortunately, we missed Wolf Alice (Tour in November), but we really hope that the British will be back here soon!
