KYTES – Frisbee

The indie band KYTES has done a lot in recent years. In autumn 2016 they released their debut album “Heads & Tales”, followed by an extended tour of Germany and a packed summer of 2017 with over 35 festivals, followed by a slightly calmer year 2018. On Friday the Munich release their new EP “Frisbee” They make it even in the freezing cold, summon summer holiday feelings.

The EP is the first release on the band’s own label “Frisbee Records”, with which the four musicians want to gain more independence, as us in the Have told an interview. But not only behind the scenes seems to have changed a lot, even the sound has evolved audibly. While “Heads & Tales” was characterized by typical (but no less good!) Indie anthems, “Frisbee” sounds much more adventurous and playful, which is not least due to the collaboration with the new producer filous.

The opener “Any Better” is reminiscent of Funky Pop à la Parcels and shows the impressive vocal variety of singer Michi right at the beginning. “Waterfall” then opens up with effect games and lets the listener ever bring out the dance shoes. The golden mean of the EP is “Take It Easy” and more than lives up to this place by combining the different influences of the band with almost insolent nonchalance. Admittedly, the song took two or three runs to get me right, but now it’s becoming one of my favorites. It was easier than the first pre-single. “Remedy” convinces with a catchy good-mood-melody and a summery beat and at the latest with the accompanying video the holiday mood is perfectly rounded off. At the end of the EP, the indie fans will get their money’s worth again. With “Another Ride”, the KYTES have delivered a dynamic indie hit that has already shown at the live shows last year that it can sweep the audience and drag it onto the dance floor.

With these songs in the Luggage can be the next festival summer, where, among other things, the PULS Open Air is on the program. And maybe the next EP will be coming soon. Because if you can complain about “Frisbee”, then at the most that it is too short with five songs.
